Virtually all parents try to do their best for their children. There are two main difficulties facing parents in this respect.

First, parenting is generational. Each generation is brought up by their parents and repeats most of the fundamentals of the way they were parented. There may be some conscious decisions to “do things differently,” but it is not easy to determine how to do things better because the only way parents know is the way they were brought up.

Second, there is a plethora of parenting advice and resources available. Much of it contains myths and mis-information and it is not easy to know what is beneficial and what is not.
